Blog: Failure?

So although I have not been inspired to blog here in a long time, I hope tumblr will be good to me and my blogging aspirations.

Here's where my next attempt at blogging can be found:

Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010 and more goodies this past week

Woah! I am truly lucky to have experience up close Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010 in Bridgeview. I'm very thankful I got the opportunity to go, let alone get right up to the stage. It was the closest I've ever been at a concert, and I'm fortunate it was at one with appearences and performances by Rock and Roll's greatest legends.

As more luck would have it, I have a stellar camera and took wicked pictures you thought would be in Rolling Stone Magazine! A slide show of the highlights of Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010 is in the works, so stay tuned!

Another great opportunity for entertainment Ben and I had last week were free tickets to Fuerza Bruta, a raver's answer to Broadway. The acrobatics and innovation of theater-going appealed to me, despite some of it being redundant and overkill. The swimming pool above the audience (who, by the way, stands and dances on the stage itself the entire time) was pretty neat, although I could go without seeing too much flesh from the female swimmers.

But don't call me a grandma just yet! While I do like all sorts of theater, and I enjoy seeing new things, I particularly keep up with the Annoyance Theater or other comedy shops for cheap price and cheap laughs.

When it comes down to it, I think I just enjoy a show that really gets to my soul and moves me, not just entertaines me for an hour or two. Well done Eric Clapton, you have suceeded in doing this task and soo much more!!

"I Have Always Been a Storm"

Love this Fleetwood Mac song. and rain. and pretty much any Fleetwood Mac song.

Been meeting it up with two at Western Springs Historical Society today, before I have a shopping appointment at Target and Half-Price books. Then doing more work for Swedish and Edgewater museums at home, in between heavy Facebook and ChicagoBreakingNews.com sessions.

For someone who never had any extra-curricular activities or jobs until I was 19, I sure am taking on a lot. Sounds like I'm experienced, with two museums under my belt, another historical society in the works, and in the running for library employment in the burbs. Also trying to put in time to CAASE, my first step into the volunteering world over a year ago.

In the next coming months, my life will be as busy and hectic as a storm, if it hasn't already. Now that most of the drama in my social life has subsided since hitting me over two years ago, I can focus on being peaceful and career-oriented for years to come.

And now, to coincide with my mood, my schedule, and the scary weather approaching our town right now, here is "Storm" performed live by Fleetwood Mac.

The Time Traveler's Wife

My eyes are puffy and my head still hurts from sobbing after I finished this book late last night. I'm afraid to watch the movies for fear it may spoil the deeply emotional story (it did so with White Oleander, despite me imagining Michelle Pfiefer as the mother in the book too)--although I would not mind seeing Eric Bana drop naked every 5 minutes.

I must meet Audrey Niffenegger, my idol for the moment, since she's from Chicago and still teaches here (I believe), and ask her if it was just as hard for her to write the novel as it was for us to read it.

And now I want to be a librarian.

Found some more good and interesting reads online, despite my stack of 15 books waiting for me since I graduated college a month ago. Next in my purse is Girls of Riyadh, and after that may be Rembrandt's Whore.

Nehad's Surprise Bridal Shower

Many more pics (and video) to come from Nehad's bridal shower that Deanna and I put together. It was a blast, and I can't wait for her wedding!

Long time no blog

I confess, it's been forever since I've been online. I used this blog for a school project a year ago, and haven't returned since until now. Hopefully I can keep this up = )

A sign of the economic times?

The economy stinks, that's for sure. But how low will business go to get money? Take the Chicago Sun-Times, my beloved city newspaper. Apparently, this has been going on for a while!
